Treasure in the Discarded Refuse 5

She followed him to his house.

At that moment she didn't care if he was a stranger. She was used to going in with strangers for pleasure anyway, but in this case, she wasn't going in for pleasure. She had just met her own messiah.

"Have your seat. I'll go get you something to eat and drink." The stranger said.

As she sat, her eyes could not stop drooling over the interior of the stranger's house.

The designs of the interior were obviously luxurious. They spelt opulence and sophistication.

The flooring of the house was an exquisite one. It was made of polished hardwood.

The ceiling was a high one which was of intricate molding. At both sides of the wall was an air conditioner.

At the left corner of the living room was a wet bar.

There were crystal chandeliers that hung around the living room and the cashmere that was used for the upholstery, rugs and drapes.

Placed on the walls were high-end artwork.

She kept admiring the living room settings over and over again.

"Did I really commit suicide and this stranger brought me to heaven?" Am I in heaven right now?" She said, still feeding her eyes in marvel.

"No, you're not in heaven. You are still on earth and in my house." He said with a very bright smile as he came in.

"Would you prefer to eat here or at the dining room?" He asked her.

"I prefer it here, sir." She replied.

"Your house is really beautiful, I must say. For a second, I thought I was in heaven." She said.

He laughed. "Thanks for the compliment. Heaven is way more beautiful than this. This is nothing compared to what heaven is like."

"Do you live alone here?" She asked him.

"Yes, I do." He replied.

"Wow! You're lucky!

He laughed. "You're so funny. It's all God's doing. Eat before it gets cold. And when you're done with the meal, I'll show you to the room you can rest in. There's a lot for us to discuss tomorrow." He said.

"Alright, sir."

   ***********************************************

"How was your night's rest?" The stranger asked her.

"It was really nice. I have never had such peaceful sleep in a long time. Every other night was always filled with pain and nightmares. Yesterday night was different.

"Glory to God! I'm glad you slept well. Would you like to have breakfast now?" He said.

"I don't eat breakfast. It upsets my stomach." She replied.

"That's fine. I don't eat breakfast for the same reason." He said.

"Miss, I'd like to hear your story. Why did you want to commit suicide yesterday?" He continued.

"The thought of what would have happened yesterday and the thought of what is happening now just seem to amaze me. If you had not come, I'd have died. I never knew there was an aspect of life where there is peace, comfort and rest. All my life, I had been in pain.

I am from a broken home. My parents lived like enemies. Every single time, I watched my mum get abused by my dad. I watched him bring in different kinds of ladies into our house, and these ladies would ridicule my mum so much.

Life was tough for my mum. She didn't love herself and so could not love me. She used to say I am the reason that her life turned out that way. For years, I wondered how I was the reason that her life turned out how it did. She never gave me a reply when I asked. She used to physically abuse me."

"When it became unbearable for my mum, she packed out of the house, not caring what became of me.

A short while after she left the house and abandoned me with my father who didn't care about me a single bit, my father died.

His burial was done. I thought and hoped she would come for me. I really loved my mother regardless. I saw through her pain, but she had no idea she was loved by me at least.

She was blinded by the circumstances she found herself in and I was to be blamed for it, her anger was always lavished on me. She didn't come for me though. I waited for hours and cried for hours when I realized she wasn't going to come for me. I always thought, "who would come for me now?"

"Well, someone came for me after two months of me living without my parents. My dad built the house, so I could stay freely in the house.

My uncle moved into the house with his girlfriend and we all began to live together.

His girlfriend duped him and ran away with a huge sum of money he intended to use to start up a business, and this made him into a drunkard.

One fateful night, I was on the couch, waiting for him to come home because it was already late in the night. He came in drunk to stupor that night and he defiled me. I told him the next morning and he apologized to me and told me not to disclose it to anyone.

Every single night, he came in drunk and would defile the already defiled me over and over again.
