Students began to troop inside the cafeteria in twos and threes. It was time for lunch break.
The aroma of various delicacies filled the room such that anyone who had no appetite at that moment would immediately start to salivate.
One after the other, the students stood in rows and patiently waited to be served.
In a moment, euphoric screams filled the cafeteria as Hephzibah walked into the cafeteria.
"You look gorgeous" , "I saw your post on Instagram yesterday!" , "OMG! Your previous portrait of the president left me in awe! The portrait looked so much like him" , "I saw your interview on YouTube!
All of these comments did students say to Hephzibah as they danced around her crown.
"Come on, guys! It's not a big deal. It's just one of my old works of art. I'm working on another, this one will leave you all in greater awe. Anticipate." Hephzibah responded to the comments students passed on her.
Debbie sat down and watched all that went on from a distance.
“How I wish I had the talent Hephzibah has. The whole school would definitely be in awe of me and make euphoric screams each time they see me.
God, what exactly did you give me? I feel so useless and worthless. I want to be popular too. Why did you not give me the drawing talent too?” She said these words to herself with tears accumulated in her eyes.
Hephzibah walked up to Debbie and sat next to her.
"Hey, Debbie. Good to see you. Hephzibah greeted her.
"Yeah" Debbie responded.
"What's up? Why are your eyes teary? Did something bad happen? Hephzibah asked.
"No, nothing bad happened. I was just being emotional.” Debbie said.
"Why is that?" Hephzibah asked in surprise.
“I feel like there’s nothing amazing about me. Each time I see you, I can’t help but be in awe of you. You are beautiful, famous and talented. As for me, I am just here. Nobody recognises me or praises me. I want to be known, I want to be seen too. Is that a bad thing?” Debbie explained.
“Absolutely not. It’s a normal desire we humans have. We want to be recognised and praised. I totally understand how you feel, Debbie. Really, I do not think you are useless. You just need to find out what’s locked up on your inside and utilize it.” Hephzibah replied.
“I do not have anything locked up on my inside. To be honest, I want to be like you. Could you teach me how to paint and draw too? I believe when I learn that, people will be in awe of me.” Debbie said.
Hephzibah laughed.
“Come on, Debbie! You don’t have to be like me or do what I do to be known.
We all have different areas of grace of which God gave to us as He wished. All you need to do is inquire of God what He has given to you, and ask that He teaches you to utilize it for His glory.” Hephzibah said.
Debbie takes a sip of the juice on the table.
“Okay, thank you. I appreciate the nice words.” Debbie said.
The school bell rang to signify the lunch break was over and students began to leave the cafeteria to their various classrooms.
